Short answer, Because you are supporting an American business that prides itself on using as much American-made or Produced raw materials as possible. Everything Sold by MMC Arts is either sourced or created locally or regionally in Factories or from Suppliers in the United States. I source the Films in the USA, and the Shirts from regional distributors in Illinois and North Carolina.
Many of my Items are printed on Gildan shirts, I like Gildan because of their price-to-quality ratio. Gildan produces a very nice shirt to work with, is durable, and the company has an excellent sustainability and community outreach program. Gildan shirts are produced worldwide, and they are headquartered in our close neighbor in Canada. A lot of their stock is milled and sewn in the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic USA, and they provide jobs for many Americans.
I can also source shirts 100% made in USA if you prefer, but there is an upcharge. Some other Made in USA options you can ask about are :
Currently, I need to charge an average of $30- $35 for a single custom T-shirt, the price breakdown looks like this: The cost of the shirt: is $6, the Cost of the single Film is $12, and shipping from the distributor is $7 ($20) Paypal takes their cut to process credit cards, $5 an order, the $5 I make per shirt helps cover my time spent designing, pressing, sorting, packaging, final cost equals approx $30-$35 for most T-shirts. Bulk orders are better for me( and you), because the overall cost of materials goes down when shipping and films are bundled. but at $30-$35 a T-shirt, I'm not making a lot.
If you order 50 shirts, the cost drops, these are based on S-XL sizes: 50 shirts are $300 + $500 for 50 films, which is $800 or $16 for each single press shirt, or if a bulk quantity of the design is more than 100 pieces it can be screen-pressed it may be even cheaper as low as $8-13 per shirt depending on how many colors and screens are used.
Every shirt is made to order. Every shirt on the site even if you order the design pictures with the default options, If you want something different you can message me on Facebook through my shop and say
" hey, Mary!, I want to order your American Fuzzy Lop shirt, But can you make it with a single Chocolate AFL instead? I want a shirt that looks like my favorite rabbit. Snokums ."
I just did an order like this. The client met me at a show and liked the Holland lop shirt but wanted to add a second variety and customize the shield. I said no problem, we conversed over email and I sent a few mock-ups till we settled on this design.
My current policy is color variety requests for ARBA showable colors and COD, which I am planning on doing anyway, are FREE. In fact the following requests can be handled at NO EXTRA COST. Requests to add an image of a second breed to the shirt. Requests to change the color of the Shield or remove the shield.
Requests that may have an upcharge but can be accommodated: for only $10 you can Add your rabbitry logo, or a custom design, custom placement for other designs, alternate locations back, sleeves, etc, or custom text. If you would like a particular style or color of shirt that is not listed, please let me know what you have in mind. I can then determine the price of a special order for that shirt. I will inform you whether it is available and how much it will cost to customize. For example, if you want a hoodie, a tri-blend shirt, or a long-sleeve shirt, I can let you know if it is possible to get it and how much it will cost.
I wish there was an easier way to set up a t-shirt designer but my current platform doesn't have the capabilities and unfortunately as of Sept 2024 I can not justify paying for Inksoft which does. Hopefully, this will change in the future. so until then I am happy to work with clients directly.
